The ruching accentuates a small waist and helps keep the feminine form of the dress when upsizing. I'm 5,8 and the dress sits just above my ankle. Flows beautifully when walking.

bananarepublic.gap.com/This is a beautiful dress. I have always been either 6 or 8 at BR. I ordered a 10 & 10P. The petite was way too short. And even though I am a 32H, the bodice was way too big and waist too tight! The straps just fell off my shoulders. They are widely set so you must have broad shoulders for this dress to work. I am considering taking a pin tuck in at the at the bodice, which is doable. The shoulders are another issue. If I have them taken in, they will still sit to far out. If I pull them in to where they should be, that will cause the bodice to further gap. I am on the fence about this one. I feel that BR kinda blew it when designing it. The fit is really off!

Beautiful colour, lightweight but thick material. The ruching was well sewed. I did notice that it was a bit roomy in the chest and I will need to have the straps taken in about 1/2 an inch.

This was a very nice dress - material, fit, colour, all good . But it was short for me even though I ordered the regular length and I am 5'4". I want to wear high heels with this kind of dress and I didn't think it looked right. Disappointed .

Gorgeous dress, unfortunately ran very small for me. Routinely wear a 6 in most brands including BananaRepublic. The 6 was too tight to zip, the 8 was still too tight from rib cage to waist. I would try the 10 but I think the top would then be way too big. Otherwise, it's beautiful, really wish it fit!
