I already own several wool winter coats that I love but with so many bulky sweaters being the trend lately all my winter coats were too fitted to wear with any chunky knits. I'd been on the hunt for something with a looser fit but with a tailored finish. This coat is it. Also love that it is longer,... below the knee is a perfect length.
In my opinion this is not a winter coat. It's light and you would have to wear lots of layers. I ordered a xsmall and small and even the size is odd. It it had a belt, the small would have worked but otherwise it looks frumpy. I will be sending both of them back.

bananarepublic.gap.com/I purchased the olive green version in a petite small. The olive color is on the darker side and the brown is a nice warm chocolate brown. It does not lean purple. Beautiful! This coat It is slightly oversized for my body type. I am 5'1, 130 lbs, and 61 yrs old. Most of my weight is in the midsection now. Its roomy enough to layer over sweaters without feeling to tight. You can dress it up or wear it casually. I feel very put together either way. It's warm enough but wouldn't wear out in very cold weather for an extended period of time. My only gripe is that the petite size isn't available in all of the colors like the regular size. I can't understand why they don't offer it in black petite. I would buy it in a heartbeat!

Comments about Double-Faced Top Coat
There are certain pieces that simply feel meant for you — and this coral orange wool coat from Banana Republic is exactly that for me. As someone who lives and breathes an Autumn palette, finding the right orange is everything. This isn't a bright, sharp citrus. It's a rich coral-orange with warmth and depth — the kind that harmonizes beautifully with golden undertones and brings life to the complexion. The moment I put it on, my skin looked healthier, my eyes brighter, and the entire outfit elevated. The length is perfection. It offers elegant coverage without overwhelming my silhouette, creating a long, lean line that feels polished and intentional. It moves beautifully as I walk — structured enough to hold its shape, yet soft enough to feel luxurious. The wool is lightweight but surprisingly warm, which makes it incredibly practical for Canadian weather. I never feel bulky or weighed down, yet I'm completely protected from the chill. That balance between warmth and refinement is rare — and this coat achieves it effortlessly. What I adore most is how chic it feels. The color makes a statement, but in a grounded, sophisticated way. It pairs seamlessly with browns, camels, olive, navy, and even animal print — all the tones that sing within an Autumn wardrobe. It has quickly become a signature piece. And the compliments? They never stop. Every time I wear it, someone remarks on the color, the cut, or simply how radiant it looks. That's the power of wearing a coat that aligns perfectly with your palette. This coral orange wool coat isn't just outerwear — it's harmony, warmth, and confidence wrapped into one beautiful piece.

I did not like how it's always catching wool on it and it's too hard to clean, i bought the same coat in green and did not have that problem

I bought this coat for my London trip in February and it delivered. It is warm, cozy and looks polished. I like my coats to be a little oversized, allows me to multi layer.

Worth every penny. It's the perfect weight to keep you warm but not so bulky you can't fit a sweater under it. A very versatile look that can go over a nice dress or hoodie and tennis shoes.

Warm, stylish, and versatile! I love that the coat is warm without being too bulky and is long without being shapeless. It is worth noting that the buttons are a little far down the coat so the neckline dips a little far, but the space is well filled by a scarf.
